Allergies are some of the most common immune disorders. They will occur when the immune system over reacts to an allergen (food, bee sting, cats, pollen, etc) and produce too many histamines to counteract it.

In a small but significant study of 26 hay fever patients published in the American Journal of Chinese Medicine, acupuncture reduced symptoms in all 26 - without side effects. A second study of some 72 people totally eliminated symptoms in more than half of the participants. Who knows what the results would be if the study was performed for a lengthier time.
